The history of the FLIRT began in 2002. The concept is still constantly being developed and enhanced with additional useful options to this day. It stands out for its modularity and flexibility, making it ideal for meeting a wide range of customer requirements. Today, in addition to pure electric traction, we also offer drive modules for operation with hydrogen, battery or diesel, or combined hybrid solutions.

Flexible body system
Two car body lengths and widths are available, as well as different structural gauge. The FLIRT has a high low-floor area and can be accessed barrier-free via the corridors.
Capacity à la carte
The modularity of the FLIRT types allows for flexible passenger capacities. Multiple units of 2 to 8 parts can accommodate 100 to 500 passengers. Smaller formations can be expanded to accommodate more passengers, and up to four trains can operate in multiple unit traction.
The best in his class
The FLIRT model is a best-seller. Since the first delivery, over 2,500 FLIRT trains have been developed, built and put into service. FLIRT trains are now successfully operating in 21 countries. FLIRT trains travel over a million kilometres every day on standard and broad-gauge tracks and in very different climate zones – from Africa to the Arctic Circle. Only a few other trains can boast such continuity and can adapt as flexibly to varied framework conditions.
FLIRT 160
The FLIRT 160 is a single-decker regional train. The name is everything with the FLIRT, the Fast Light Intercity and Regional Train. As a regional train with a maximum speed of 160 km/h, the FLIRT has been running successfully in a variety of climates, from Africa to the Arctic Circle, since 2004.
FLIRT 200
FLIRT 200 is the long-distance version of the FLIRT model series. With the launch of the faster version for intercity transport, Stadler has successfully broadened the FLIRT series.
