Carbon-free rail freight transport – EURO6000

EURO6000 is an electric multi-system Co’Co’ locomotive that belongs to the EURODUAL platform and can run under three different overhead voltages, 1.5 kV DC, 3kV DC and 25 kV AC at speeds up to 120 km/h. Featuring cutting-edge technology, these locomotives offer high hauling capability, low energy consumption, reduced LCC and promote a carbon-free rail freight transport.

Hero product image

The EURO6000 features a compact design, lightweight monocoque structure, AC/AC transmission system, six motorized wheelsets as well as a state-of-the-art adhesion control system. Stadler’s Co’Co’ locomotives are at the avant-garde of technology and cover every need efficiently and reliably, offering rail operators numerous economic and ecological benefits.

Quality features

INCREASED HAULING PERFORMANCE

With up to 500 kN of tractive effort, the impressive high-performance locomotive enables, in many cases, the transport of heavier and longer trains with just one locomotive, resulting in a higher payload and lower traction costs.

“UNIVERSAL” BOGIE

Available in Iberian (1,668 mm) and standard gauge (1,435 mm), the EURO6000 locomotives can be fitted with “universal” bogies that allow the easy change of wheelsets in a workshop.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Other innovative features of the EURO6000 that lead to a reduction in energy consumption and emissions include regenerative braking for energy recovery and an efficient AC traction system with IGBT, one inverter per axle.

Image for MINIMUM DOWNTIME

MINIMUM DOWNTIME

High level of in-built redundancy, extended maintenance intervals and minimum routine consumables to reduce costs and downtime. In addition, in-service proven components and subsystems guarantee outstanding levels of reliability and availability.

CROSS-BORDER OPERATIONS

The TSI-compliant locomotive is designed to accommodate various country packages, including conventional automatic train protection systems, as well as ETCS. Depending on the countries in which it will operate, the EURO6000 is currently available in different configurations: ES, ES/PT and ES/FR/BE/LU.

THE BEST BOGIE TECHNOLOGY

The high performance three-axle bogie, with high adhesion and very low track forces, even lower than in some modern two-axle bogies, enables lower wear and tear on the infrastructure and reduced track access costs. It also provides the highest hauling capability on the European market.

THE BEST WORKING PLACE FOR THE DRIVERS

Safe and efficient operations start with the driver. Our drivers’ cabs, with universal central desk, are designed according to ergonomic criteria, as well as in compliance with the noise and comfort requirements as set out in the latest European standards. They are fully insulated, acoustically and thermally, and feature an enhanced HVAC system that optimizes cab comfort.

READY FOR THE FUTURE

With a modular design, the EURODUAL locomotives are also prepared to be retrofitted easily in the future. The carbody has been designed and calculated to be fitted with the Digital Automatic Coupler (DAC). Tedious, dangerous manual coupling is then no longer necessary. However, as very few freight trains can be equipped with automatic coupling for the time being, Stadler’s EURO series locomotives can also be fitted with hybrid couplings that offer manual and fully automated coupling options.

DIGITALIZATION

Our top-of-the-range locomotives are fitted with the latest generation of vehicle control systems, including remote monitoring and diagnosis features to enable our customers to move to a predictive maintenance environment.
