Excellent operational flexibility - EUROLIGHT

Stadler’s Bo’Bo’ mainline locomotives combine high power with light axle-load ensuring operations across the entire network. The locomotives can operate as effectively on secondary routes as they can on main line routes. They can also be used for multiple applications: freight and passenger transport, rescue services, track inspection etc.

Leading the way to a more sustainable future, the Bo’Bo’ mainline locomotive platform can be fitted with up to three different drive systems: electric, diesel and/or battery. The EUROLight combines energy efficiency, performance and reliability, which results in optimum life cycle costing and long-term cost efficiency in railway operations.

Quality features

FASTER AND VERSATILE

Stadler’s four-axle mainline locomotives are used for high-speed freight service, mixed traffic or for passenger push-pull services. With a top speed of 180 km/h, they also work perfectly as rescue locomotives. Snow clearance and other track inspection and maintenance works can also be carried out easily with them.

GREEN DRIVE TECHNOLOGIES

Leading the way to a more sustainable future, Stadler’s Bo’Bo’ mainline locomotives are available with different drive technologies: electric, diesel, batteries, dual-mode (E&D) and even tri-mode (E&D&Batt).

CUTTING-EDGE ENGINES

Compliant with the latest European emission standard (Stage V), the state-of-the-art engines not only achieve a substantial reduction in pollutant emissions but also optimize combustion, resulting in lower fuel consumption and reduced greenhouse gases emissions.

The locomotives are also prepared for the use with HVO bio-fuels, which contribute to the reduction CO2eq emissions, supporting the decarbonization of the transport sector.

Image for ENERGY EFFICIENCY

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Other innovative features of the EUROLight that lead to a reduction in energy consumption and emissions include an efficient AC traction system with IGBT, one inverter per axle, and braking energy recovery for auxiliary power supply.

Image for MINIMUM DOWNTIME

MINIMUM DOWNTIME

High level of in-built redundancy, extended maintenance intervals and minimum routine consumables to reduce costs and downtime. In addition, in-service proven components and subsystems guarantee outstanding levels of reliability.

THE BEST WORKING PLACE FOR THE DRIVERS

Safe and efficient operations start with the driver. Our drivers’ cabs are designed according to ergonomic criteria, as well as in compliance with the noise and comfort requirements as set out in the latest European standards. They are fully insulated, acoustically and thermally, and feature an enhanced HVAC system that optimizes cab comfort.

READY FOR THE FUTURE

With a modular design, the EUROLight locomotives are also prepared to be retrofitted easily in the future. They can also be fitted with hybrid couplings that offer manual and fully automated coupling options.

DIGITALIZATION

Our top-of-the-range locomotives are fitted with the latest generation of vehicle control systems, including remote monitoring and diagnosis features to enable our customers to move to a predictive maintenance environment.

EUROLight

Low-emissions diesel-electric Bo’Bo’ locomotives with 2,800kW engine power and AC traction system with IGBT. Characterized by its high traction power and lightweight, it offers excellent flexibility to rail operators since the units can be operated on main lines as well as on secondary lines. The multi-purpose EUROLIGHT platform allows multiple applications, from heavy freight operations to high-speed passenger push-pull services and rescue operations.

EUROLight Dual

Bo’Bo’ bi-mode locomotives that combine electric mode with diesel mode to enable operations in the complete network, electrified or not. The highly innovative locomotives boost energy efficiency and cut both exhaust gas emissions and noise.

Tri-mode Class 93

Stadler’s first tri-mode locomotives have three different power sources: Electric, Diesel and Batteries. The battery packs enable carbon-free shunting operation and provide extra power to supplement the engine when the locomotive is running in diesel/battery hybrid mode. The advanced locomotives will significantly reduce emissions of core pollutants and of greenhouse gases for both rail freight as well as potential passenger transport services, supporting net zero targets.
